Forrest Fenn Treasure: How My 2020 Article Led to Netflix Coverage and a News Feature

In 2020, I published a piece called “Why Forest Fenn’s Multi-Million Dollar Treasure Is Really Worth So Much”, which explored the cultural gravity of the treasure hunt, not just the monetary value of what was hidden in the mountains. I never imagined that years later, that very article would circle back and pull me into the story itself.

Fast forward to today—and I’m both honored and slightly amused to share that I’ve recently been featured in a news article and in a TV segment on KOB 4 News. The coverage ties into the release of a new Netflix documentary about the Forrest Fenn treasure hunt, and my original article was referenced as part of the ongoing conversation about the legacy of Fenn’s puzzle.

It’s surreal to go from observer to participant, from commentary to coverage. I wrote that post from a place of genuine fascination—about mystery, obsession, and the human need for meaning in adventure. It seems that story still resonates.

If you’re just now discovering this bizarre and wonderful chapter of modern folklore, I recommend watching the new documentary and giving my original article a read for context. It digs into why this hunt captured imaginations far beyond the Rockies, and maybe still does.

Thanks to everyone who’s reached out, shared the news piece, or messaged me about the documentary. It’s a strange and exciting thing to see a thread you pulled on years ago finally unravel into the spotlight.

Let’s see where it goes next.
